Spring campsite reservations for B.C. provincial parks are now open. The date to book for the May long weekend is January 17.

Spending time outdoors may not sound tempting right now, with freezing temperatures and winter weather top of everyone’s mind, but now is the time to start booking sites for spring camping in B.C.

Martha Creek Provincial Park campground opens May 8, and because visitors to B.C.’s parks are able to book campsites four months in advance of when they would like to pitch a tent, reservations for that site were available as of Jan. 8.

May long weekend reservations open Jan. 17.

BC Parks says this is the first year Martha Creek was added to the campground reservation system, and that it has a total of 108 campsites — 32 of them new.

Last year, the province launched a new notification system that allows people to get on a wait list if the campground they are trying to book is full. The Notify Me feature lets users sign up for a maximum of five alerts for any reservable campground.

BC Parks say that it took 366,000 camping reservations in 2023, which is a 15 per cent jump from 2022.

    Campers can reserve sites here.
