Person arrested onboard Air Canada flight at YVR Saturday

Someone was arrested from onboard an Air Canada flight sitting on the tarmac at Vancouver International Airport Saturday.

The RCMP was called to an incident on Winnipeg-bound Flight 296 before it took off Saturday afternoon, YVR confirmed.

A caller to CityNews says they saw police officers go on the plane and come out with someone who was tied up around his legs.

“They just took someone off of the airplane,” the caller said. “They have like four or five cops, some cars, and this guy was like, not hogtied, but he was like tied around his legs. He was like massive. So our flights been delayed for like, over an hour.”

The caller says there were three police cars and a firetruck outside the plane.

The airport says operations were not affected beyond the delay of this flight.

CityNews has reached out to the RCMP for more information about what happened.
