All public schools in Abbotsford, Chilliwack, Langley, Maple Ridge and Pitt Meadows, and Mission are closed Friday.
The cancelled classes and school closures come as freezing rain hit the Fraser Valley overnight, complicating the already messy roads and sidewalks blanketed with snow.
It’s the third day in a row that schools have been cancelled in those districts.
Meanwhile, Burnaby, Coquitlam, Delta, New Westminster, North Vancouver, Richmond, Surrey, Vancouver, and West Vancouver public schools are open Friday, with classes scheduled as normal.
The Lower Mainland was hit by a major snowstorm Wednesday, with snow falling for over 12 hours in many areas.
A handful of areas saw daily total accumulation records fall, with Vancouver International Airport recording 27.2 centimetres of snow on Jan. 17.
Snow fell again Thursday before temperatures rose enough for precipitation to turn to freezing rain in the Fraser Valley and rain in Metro Vancouver.
