Metro Van man arrested after ‘unsettling incident’ in Port Moody

A 57-year-old man was arrested in Port Moody over the weekend in connection with what police are calling an “unsettling incident.”

The Port Moody Police Department says officers were called to a store in Suter Brook Village on Saturday for reports that a man threatened to carry out “acts of violence” toward a staff member.

The person left the store before officers got there. However, police say they were able to identify a suspect, who was later arrested at a home in Coquitlam.

James Quirin remains in custody in connection with this investigation. Police say he is facing charges, including of careless use or storage of a firearm.

“Fortunately, the staff member reported this suspicious behavior to us, which resulted in a safe resolution to this matter,” said Const. Sam Zacharias.
