Vancouver police say a convicted “high risk and violent sex offender” has been re-arrested, after a Canada-wide warrant was issued when he failed to check in to a halfway house in the city.
According to the VPD, Johnny Walkus was re-arrested Wednesday afternoon and has been returned to custody after being spotted near Cambie Street and West Broadway.
Police say he was arrested “without incident.”
Walkus was released from the Matsqui Institution on Tuesday and never showed up at the transition home.
The 36-year-old is serving a sentence for two counts of sexual assault, as well as one count of break and enter with intent and one count of uttering threat to cause death/harm.
