Man charged in violent Yaletown nightclub robbery last year

A 27-year-old man has been charged after a violent robbery at a Yaletown nightclub in 2023, the VPD says.
Police say it happened on April 9, at an establishment in Yaletown after hours. Two suspects are said to have entered the club, threatened staff with a gun and knife, and stole $25,000 in cash.
During the robbery, six people had their hands zip-tied and were “forcibly confined,” the VPD said last year. Investigators said one person was seriously assaulted, leaving them with a “life-altering injury.”
Nasir Hussein Syed has been charged with 19 offences surrounding unlawful confinement, robbery, and assault.
He has been released from custody until his next court appearance.
Police are still looking into any other suspects.
