B.C.’s police oversight agency has been deployed to Langley after a crash left one man with serious injuries Monday.
The Independent Investigations Office says RCMP officers tried to stop a black Mazda on 16 Avenue just after midnight.
The driver reportedly didn’t comply and crashed in the area of 16 Avenue and 264 Street.
Two people — both from the Mazda — were taken to the hospital. The driver sustained minor injuries while the passenger was seriously hurt.
The driver of the other vehicle — the sole occupant — was not physically hurt, police say.
The IIO, which investigates all officer-related incidents that result in serious harm or death, will now look into what role, if any, police actions may have played in the crash.
The agency is asking anyone who saw the crash or who has any relevant information to contact the IIO at 1-855-446-8477 or iiobc.ca.
