The Vancouver Police Department says a woman is in hospital with life-threatening injuries after being hit by a car in Kitsilano Monday.
Police say the 36-year-old woman was hit while cycling along Maple Street near West 4th Avenue just before 9:30 a.m.
“She was struck by the driver of a Toyota Venza in the intersection,” Const. Tania Visintin said in a statement Wednesday. “The cyclist was taken to hospital where she remains, with life-threatening injuries.”
“The cyclist’s leg was trapped under the car, and required Vancouver Fire Rescue Services to use the jaws of life to rescue her,” she added.
The VPD is urging anyone who witnessed the collision or who has dash cam footage of the area at that time to call its Collision Investigation Unit at 604-717-3012.
