Manslaughter charge laid in 2018 stabbing: Vancouver police

Vancouver police say a man has been arrested and charged in connection with a 2018 stabbing that left one person dead.

The VPD says officers received reports of “an altercation between two people” in the area of West Hastings and Abbott streets on June 23, 2018, just after 11 a.m.

A 26-year-old was taken to the hospital with a stab wound. According to police, Abeal Negussie Abera, from Surrey, died a week later.

Benny Rae Armstrong, 38, has since been charged with manslaughter. Police say he was arrested on March 22 and remains in custody.

Abera’s death was recorded as the 10th homicide of 2018.
