Lamborghini written off after West Van teen crashes on HWY 1

A teen’s joy ride probably ended with a few tears last month, after they took a Lamborghini for a drive and crashed it along Highway 1 in West Vancouver.

The West Vancouver Police Department says around 11 p.m. on March 25, its officers were notified of a crash. They arrived to find a Lamborghini Huracan “in the ditch with no one inside.”

“Officers began an exhaustive search to ensure the well-being of the driver and any passengers,” said Sgt. Chris Bigland in a statement Wednesday.

“With the cooperation of the vehicle owner, we were able to promptly locate and interview [the] occupants of the car who were uninjured.”

The WVPD says its investigation led them to a 13-year-old who had been allegedly driving the vehicle.

Police say the vehicle has been written off. A 2024 Huracan in Canada runs in the ballpark of $288,019 to $410,143, depending on features and add-ons, plus tax.

“The youth and a friend decided to take the car for a drive but were unable to control the car in the dark and rainy conditions. While significant property damage has been done, we are grateful that no one was hurt in the collision” said Bigland.

A Huracan has more than 600 horsepower under its hood, powered by a V10 engine.

“The driver has been charged under the Motor Vehicle Act with Speeding, Drive Without Due Care, Fail to Remain at the Scene of a Collision, and Driving with No Drivers License,” Bigland added.
