Metro Vancouver gas prices surge overnight

Fingers crossed you gassed up Wednesday.

Gas prices across Metro Vancouver spiked overnight into Thursday, crossing the $2.10 per litre of regular gas mark at most stations.

Some gas stations are now charging up to $2.13 for a litre of regular.

Five years ago, the price at the pump was a little more than $1.51 a litre, and this time last year was close to $1.85 for a litre.

One gas analyst believes Metro Vancouver drivers could be paying up to $2.30 per litre of regular by the May long weekend.

GasBuddy chief petroleum analyst Patrick De Haan previously told CityNews the upward trend much of the Lower Mainland has seen will continue.

“We certainly could go up to about $2.25 or $2.30 a litre before all is said and done,” he added.
