Pair of earthquakes shake off Vancouver Island coast

Two underwater earthquakes off the coast of Vancouver Island were recorded Wednesday night.

Earthquakes Canada says the first registered at 4.8, with the second clocking in at a magnitude 4.3.

Both quakes were around 191 kilometres northwest of Port Alice and didn’t cause any damage or risk of a tsunami.

This latest earthquake comes after Fort St. John rocked on April 13 due to an “industry-related” earthquake.

According to Earthquakes Canada, the country has felt 18 earthquakes so far in 2024, with B.C. home to the lion’s share of eight.
