Police motorcycles involved in multi-vehicle crash in Surrey during training

Police say two RCMP motorcycles were involved in a crash in Surrey Thursday, while they were conducting motorcade training.

The collision happened in the area of 152 Street and 88 Avenue just before 1:30 p.m.

“Our BC Highway Patrol motorcycle program was conducting escort training in Surrey when two motorcycles collided with a vehicle that was unrelated to the escort,” explained Corp. Melissa Jungema with BC Highway Patrol.

She says two police officers suffered minor injuries.

“The one officer was transported to hospital but is expected to recover shortly. The second officer was not transported and is not in need of any further treatment,” Jungema explained.

She tells CityNews the driver of the vehicle not involved in the training didn’t report any physical injuries but was taken to the hospital as a precaution.

The RCMP is looking into what happened to determine the circumstances around the crash.
