Transit police seize drugs and weapons in three-day project near Metrotown

The Metro Vancouver Transit Police says it has seized a number of drugs and weapons in an effort to address crime and safety near Metrotown.
The three-day project took place April 13, 19, and 21, around Metrotown’s SkyTrain Station in Burnaby. Officers spent the three days working in uniform and plain clothes in the area near the mall, including the bus loop.
Police say there were 26 arrests made, ranging from outstanding warrants, weapons, and theft.
They also seized 23 weapons — which included knives and replica firearms — 142 grams of fentanyl, and six grams of methamphetamine.
Almost $10,000 in stolen merchandise was also recovered.
“Public safety will always be a top priority for Transit Police and we are dedicated to keeping the transit system safe for everyone, which includes reducing risks of crime faced by transit passengers as they travel to and from the transit system,” said Const. Amanda Steed
Police say Metrotown’s SkyTrain Station is the second busiest in the region by passenger volumes, while Metropolis is the largest mall in B.C.
