Feces-flinging suspect charged with assaulting Vancouver police officer

Vancouver police say they arrested a man hiding in a porta potty Saturday after he allegedly attacked an officer with multiple unsavoury projectiles.

On the night of May 18, police say officers asked three men to move because they were blocking a loading bay near Franklin Street and McLean Drive in East Vancouver.

One of the men reportedly told police he needed to use the washroom, and the officers gave him some wipes to “do his business” behind a dumpster.

Police say when he was done, the man threw the dirty wipes full of feces back at the officers, then “unloaded” a large can of bear spray, hitting one officer in the face.

Const. Tania Visintin says the suspect then ran into a porta potty near Hastings Street and Mclean Drive.

“He refused to exit the porta potty,” said Visintin.

She says officers fired bean bag shotgun rounds to finally arrest the 42-year-old man.

The man was taken to jail and charged with assaulting a police officer.
