Emergency crews put out a fire at a house on East 12th Avenue between Prince Albert and St. Catherines Streets Saturday morning.

“It appears that there was fire started in somebody’s basement and extended up into the house,” Vancouver Fire Rescue Battalion Chief Andy Zawada told CityNews.

Zawada says the building appears to be abandoned and nobody was injured.

Fire investigators will work to determine the cause of the blaze and determine whether or not it was an abandoned building, he says.
