Man sentenced to life after murdering wife in Abbotsford in 2022

An Abbotsford man has received a life sentence after he admitted to murdering his wife in 2022.

On July 28 of that year, first responders received a call about an assault at a home in the area of Eastview Street near Babich Park.

When they arrived, they found 45-year-old Kamaljit Kaur Sandhu suffering from life-threatening injuries. Despite the efforts of officers and paramedics, the Integrated Homicide Investigation Team (IHIT) says the woman did not survive.

Kamaljit’s husband, Inderjit Singh Sandhu, was found at the scene and taken into custody.

At the time of the incident, the couple’s two children, then aged 16 and 21, were placed into the care of family.

Inderjit pleaded guilty to second-degree murder in April of this year. In an update Thursday, IHIT said he was sentenced to life without parole eligibility for 13 years.
