No tsunami warning after 5.2 magnitude quake off Vancouver Island

A magnitude 5.2 earthquake off the northwest coast of Vancouver Island has not triggered a tsunami warning, Emergency Info BC said Thursday.

The quake happened 189 kilometres southwest of Port Alice around 9:15 a.m., according to Earthquakes Canada.

The U.S. National Tsunami Warning Center initially recorded the quake as being magnitude 5.5.

It came after another quake shook the region just hours earlier.

According to Earthquakes Canada, a 4.3 magnitude quake shook around 6:18 a.m., 190 km southwest of Port Alice.

On Wednesday, a 3.9 magnitude earthquake was recorded by the national earthquake agency 252 km west of Tofino.
