Hwy 1 reopens after deadly crash north of Hope

The BC Highway Patrol says a serious collision Thursday afternoon south of Boston Bar has resulted in the death of two people and the hospitalization of another.

The RCMP says officers responded to a collision at the Ferrabee Tunnel just before 2 p.m.

A Thursday release said, “Upon arrival it was determined that a collision had occurred, resulting in the death of two people.”

Emergency responders tell CityNews they attended the scene, sending four ambulances with primary-care and advanced-care paramedics along with a supervisor.

“Paramedics provided emergency medical treatment to one patient who was transported to hospital,” said BCEHS Paramedic Public Information Officer Brian Twaites.

Highway 1 was closed in both directions until 12 a.m. Friday while police investigated the cause of the crash.

The BC Highway Patrol is asking anyone with information or video regarding the collision to contact 604-702-4039 and quote file number 2024-28948.

Drive BC says no detour is available yet. Congestion in the area and surrounding corridors can be expected.
