Two residents of Qualicum Beach, a small town on Vancouver Island, have died after a car crash in Alberta, the RCMP says.

On Saturday afternoon, police responded to reports of a serious crash between a Toyota Corolla and a Ford F-350 on Highway 22 near Cremona, Alberta, about an hour north of Calgary.

A 76-year-old man and a 75-year-old woman, who were in the Corolla, died at the scene.

The driver of the F-350 was taken to hospital with non-life threatening injuries.
