Overpass hit in Stanley Park

Vancouver police confirm an overpass in Stanley Park was hit by a truck over the weekend.

The VPD says the commercial five-tonne truck collided with the overpass. It appears this happened on Saturday.

“VPD’s Collision Investigation Unit issued the driver a violation ticket for drive without due care and attention,” police said in an email.

Police note while there was “extensive damage to the truck,” the overpass itself did not sustain any damage.

No injuries were reported.

It appears the overpass is the same pedestrian bridge that was hit in March of this year.

At that time, the bridge, which goes over Stanley Park Drive near the Causeway and Vancouver Rowing Club, sustained minor damage. The incident also left the truck’s trailer with quite a bit of damage, with images showing the top of the vehicle ripped up.
