The volunteers at North Shore Rescue (NSR) had their hands full Saturday, being called out for two separate rescues on Grouse Mountain’s BCMC Trail.
The first call was a medical rescue high up on the trail.
A helicopter rescue tech and ER physician were hoisted into the location by Talon Helicopters. They, along with the District Fire and the Metro Ranger, provided care and winched the person out before transfering them to a rescue base at Cap Gate near Cleveland Dam.
The second call came in just as the first one was ending, this time for a hiker in distress on a lower section of the same trail.
District Fire was able to assist that person as they were already making their way down the trail from the initial call.
Shortly after the rescues were complete, a third call came in, this one for an elderly patient with Alzheimers who had walked away in West Vancouver. Thankfully, the patient was found while NSR was prepping to attend.
