$3,150 Vancouver rental unit comes with buckets to collect rain leaks

A Facebook Marketplace listing for a rental unit in downtown Vancouver says tenants should expect to collect leaking water in buckets and pieces of the ceiling off the floor when it rains.
For just $3,150 per month, you can rent an unfurnished 2-bedroom penthouse on Homer Street that the ad says is simply not waterproof.
“When it rains there will be water coming in the living room ceiling from two holes,” the listing says.
“You’ll also need to pick up pieces of the ceiling that fall off due to the water leaks.”
To avoid your possessions getting soaked, the listing says you’ll need to collect the water in buckets — fortunately, those will be provided.
The listing says the landlords are planning to do “significant” repairs to the roof and ceiling of the unit, but that can’t be expected to improve the lives of its tenants.
“Immediately after these repairs are completed, the unit will be put up for sale.”
Robert Patterson, a lawyer with the Tenant Resource and Advisory Centre, tells 1130 NewsRadio that it would be a violation of the Residential Tenancy Act to write a rental contract in which the tenant is responsible for repairs that the act says landlords themselves are responsible for. However, this posting, specifically, does not state that the renter would be responsible for repairs.
According to Science World, Vancouver experiences a yearly average of 169 days of rain.
