“The name symbolizes more than just a team; it’s a beacon of empowerment and progress, inspiring the next generation to rise above and chase their dreams,” the team posted on social media.

“Just as the mountains and sun look over the city each day, bringing light and energy to the world, Vancouver Rise FC represents the dawning of a new era in soccer.”

The logo has a particularly Vancouver feel, with the North Shore mountains featuring prominently in the logo.

The peaks of the mountains; the teal, gold, and black of Vancouver’s natural landscape; and the sun are major features in the team’s logo.

The Halifax Tides, Ottawa Rapid, AFC Toronto, Calgary Wild, and a yet-to-be-named Montreal team round out the founding league members.

As for the next steps, the Rise is looking to sign players, launch jerseys, and promote their season ticket campaign, amongst others.

Monday’s announcement was a long time coming for fans of women’s soccer in Vancouver.
