Truck fire briefly shuts 72nd Avenue in Surrey

A portion of 72nd Avenue in Surrey was shut down for a short time Tuesday morning after a semi-truck caught fire.

The route was closed to traffic between 150th and 152nd streets around 11 a.m. However, as of 11:40 a.m., 72nd Avenue appeared to have reopened.

The Surrey RCMP tells 1130 NewsRadio that 72nd Avenue was shut down due to the proximity of the fire to a power pole.

Callers and crews in the area reported a large police presence just after 11 a.m. It’s unclear what caused the truck to catch fire but police say there is nothing criminal about the incident.

You can take 64th Avenue as an alternate route to get around the closure.
