1 injured after driver crashes into West Vancouver liquor store

It was a startling moment for shoppers inside a BC Liquor Store in West Vancouver on Wednesday afternoon, when a driver crashed through the front window.

The West Vancouver Police Department (WVPD) says officers were called to the scene at the Caulfeild Shopping Centre around 12:30 p.m. after an SUV crashed through from the parking lot outside.

Police say one person was taken to hospital with minor injuries.

“The vehicle’s driver was not injured, but one person did suffer minor injuries when moving out of harms way,” said WVPD spokesperson Suzanne Birch.

“We are grateful that there were no serious injuries and would like to encourage everyone to take care when operating a vehicle.”

She says the cause of the incident remains under investigation.

Impairment is not believed to have been a factor.
