Busy day on B.C.’s campaign trail

With the countdown on to election day in B.C., the Green Party will the first out of the gate with its full platform on Tuesday morning.

BC Green Party Leader Sonia Furstenau has scheduled a 10 a.m. announcement in Victoria to reveal “the party’s vision for the future of British Columbia.”

Furstenau’s party has already made a series of commitments ahead of the Oct. 19 election, including the promise to establish a network of 93 community health centres.

The party says they’ll give every B.C. resident six visits per year with a mental health professional under the provincial Medical Services Plan, and they want to maintain a carbon tax while increasing the size of the rebate.

New Democratic Leader David Eby is spending the day in the southern Interior, with a campaign event scheduled in Castlegar at 8:30 a.m. and Grand Forks at 11 a.m.

Meanwhile, BC Conservatives leader John Rustad is set to make an announcement in Sea-to-Sky country, with an appearance scheduled in Brackendale, just north of Squamish, at 10 a.m.
