2 pedestrians hit by drivers near Lougheed Highway in 2 hours

Two pedestrians in nearly as many hours were sent to hospital after being struck by drivers in the Lower Mainland Sunday evening.
At 5 p.m., BC Emergency Health Services says it responded to the scene of an incident involving a pedestrian near Lougheed Highway and Hastings Street in Port Coquitlam.
Paramedics say one patient was transported to hospital in “serious condition.”
Shortly after 7 p.m., BC EHS responded to the scene of another collision near Lougheed Highway on Burnett Street in Maple Ridge.
The Ridge Meadows RCMP tells 1130 NewsRadio that it responded to a report of “suspicious occurrence in the area” Sunday. Officers who arrived around 7:10 p.m. say they found Fire Department personnel “performing life-saving measures on a woman who was laying on top of a vehicle.”
BC EHS says one patient was sent to hospital in “serious condition,” but police say the person was transported “with non-life-threatening injuries.”
Mounties say the vehicle had sustained visible damage to the front bumper, hood, windshield and roof.
Lougheed Highway near Burnett Street was reportedly closed until 10:15 p.m.
