Vancouver Police looking for witnesses after fatal crash earlier this month

The Vancouver Police Department is asking for witnesses to come forward after a driver in a car fatally struck an 85-year-old man earlier this month.

The crash happened on Dec. 15 between 4:40 p.m. and 5 p.m. at the corner of Victoria Drive and East Broadway, when the pedestrian was reportedly crossing the north side of Victoria Drive.

The man was taken to hospital with injuries that police believed at the time to not be life-threatening. In an update Tuesday, police shared that the victim later died in hospital.

The VPD says he was hit by a 2001 Toyota Sienna being driven by an 83-year-old Vancouver woman.

The VPD is urging anyone who saw the crash, or anyone who has dashcam footage of the intersection during the time of the incident, to call the department’s Collision Investigation Unit at 604-717-3012.
