Explosives, gun found after armed robbery attempt: Vancouver Police

A 66-year-old man remains in custody Wednesday after being arrested for an alleged attempted robbery in downtown Vancouver Monday.
The Vancouver Police Department says officers were called to the Holt Renfrew store just before 12 p.m. on Dec. 30 after reports that a man had entered the store, “threatened to shoot staff, and attempted to steal merchandise.”

“Following the arrest, police seized two improvised explosive devices, a firearm, and other weapons. The explosive devices were later rendered safe by explosive technicians from VPD’s Emergency Response Section,” Const. Tania Visintin said in a statement on Wednesday.

The man is now facing charges of robbery, uttering threats to cause death, and possession of a weapon for a dangerous purpose.
The suspect remains in custody awaiting his next court appearance. The allegations have yet to be proven in court.
