The multi-vehicle collision was at the east end of the bridge, and had the HOV and left lanes closed.

BC Highway Patrol says the 24-year-old driver of a Honda Civic is now facing fines of more than $400 for driving in the HOV lane against regulation, driving without consideration, and having tinted windows.

“The BC Highway Patrol officer on scene did an investigation and determined the driver of the Honda Civic was not supposed to be in the HOV lane. And got 3 tickets for the violation.” Corp. Michael McLaughlin told 1130 NewsRadio.

He says one person was taken to hospital as a precaution, though adds there is no indication of life-threatening injuries.

Highway 1 westbound traffic was backed up as far as 176 Street. The crash was cleared just before 9:30 a.m.
