‘Active threat’ in Langley has been resolved, RCMP says

Editor’s note: a previous version of this story had stated the area in question was on 236th Street near 16th Avenue.

Mounties in Langley say an “active threat” in the 4400 block of 236th Street has been resolved and the shelter-in-place advisory has been lifted.

Police were called to the area around 3 p.m. after being asked to do a wellness check at a residence. As they were on the way, they received muliple 911 calls with reports of what sounded like gunfire.

Multiple officers attended the scene with Integrated Emergency Response Team members and police dogs.

“One person has been taken into police custody, and I can confirm that there is no ongoing threat to the public,” said Sgt. Zynal Sharoom of the Langley RCMP.

Expect a large police presence in the area as the investigation is ongoing.

No injuries have been reported.
