Man charged after Port Moody hospital worker assaulted

Police say a man is in custody after a health-care worker was assaulted Thursday evening at Eagle Ridge Hospital in Port Moody.

The Port Moody Police Department says officers were called to the hospital about 8:30 p.m. and found the suspect being restrained by security and staff members.

“Officers arrested the man and he is also alleged to have assaulted a police officer during the arrest,” PMPD said in a release Friday.

Police say charges of assault and assaulting a peace officer have been approved against a man of “no fixed address.”

They say he remains in custody and is expected to appear in court Friday.
