64-year-old woman seriously injured after being hit by truck in Burnaby

The Burnaby RCMP says a 64-year-old woman was taken to hospital on Sunday after being hit by a truck Sunday evening.

Mounties say they received reports of the incident along Hastings Street at Rosser Avenue just after 5:45 p.m.

“It is early in the investigation; however, we can share that a 64-year-old female victim was transported to the hospital with serious injuries. The driver of the vehicle remained on scene,” Cpl. Mike Kalanj said in a statement.

Mounties say the RCMP’s Criminal Collision Investigation Team has taken over the investigation.

According to witnesses in the area, the involved cube van looked to be turning left onto Rosser Avenue when it struck the woman who was crossing the road.

Hastings Street was closed for several hours Sunday, however, it has since reopened to traffic.
