Treacherous, icy conditions have kept North Shore Rescue busy. The team has put out a warning it hopes will save lives in the days ahead.
North Shore Rescue says it responded to multiple calls for seriously injured people over the weekend, everything from head injuries, to broken bones, to internal injuries, to significant loss of skin.

It is particularly icy and slippery on the western aspects of the Cypress Mountain ski areas, including popular backcountry routes like Christmas Gully, NSR said.
NSR says the current snow conditions are such that snowshoes won’t do much for you.
“On trail, microspikes at least are needed for traction; off trail on slopes, crampons and ice axe (with experience and practice on self arrest techniques) are needed. Please keep this in mind if you are adventuring in the coming days,” the team said.
The team says it wants to get this information out to as many people as possible as the snow melts and turns to ice overnight with cooler temperatures.
