Pedestrian dies after Tuesday’s crash in Port Coquitlam, RCMP says

Mounties in Coquitlam are out with an update on a crash involving a pedestrian Tuesday.

The RCMP says a 44-year-old woman has died after being struck by a vehicle.

Officers responded to a collision involving the pedestrian and a vehicle at the intersection of Lougheed Highway and Oxford Connector in Port Coquitlam at approximately 12:20 p.m. on Tuesday.

Paramedics transported the pedestrian to the hospital with life-threatening injuries while the driver of the vehicle remained on the scene.

The woman succumbed to her injuries the next day in the hospital.

“Our thoughts go out to the loved ones of the deceased; this is a tragic and devastating loss for our community,” said Media Relations Officer Acting Sergeant John Graham.

The Oxford Connector in Port Coquitlam was shut down for several hours after the incident.
