Despite the immediate efforts of bystanders and first responders, the youth tragically succumbed to his injuries,” said Sgt. Paul Walker in a statement.
Police say two other teenagers were arrested, and the attack appears to have been targeted, not random.

“As you can appreciate, incidents like this in our community or any community is affected as a whole, not just the impact it has on the three families of people that were involved in this incident last night, especially the grieving family of the deceased,” Walker explained.
“Today, we’re going to have friends, students, young folks that know these individuals involved, and we’ll be finding new information about that, and they’ll be affected as well.”
Walker says the police department will be working closely with the school district to provide support to the community.
The Lower Mainland’s Integrated Homicide Investigation Team has taken over the case and is asking for the public’s help.
“Anyone who was in the vicinity of Larch Park between 6:30 p.m. and 8:00 p.m., or who may have dashcam footage from the area, is urged to contact the IHIT Infoline at 1-877-551-4448,” Walker said.
“This investigation, it’s dynamic, it’s challenging. All homicide investigations are. I can’t get into specifics about kind of what led to, or what the motives or things. Those are questions that we’ll be looking to answer as the investigative team unfolds and navigates throughout the day here, and as the days to come with youth involved,” he added.
