Two men convicted of drug possession and distribution

The Metro Vancouver Transit Police says two men were found guilty of possessing and distributing illegal substances and contraband products.

The two men were arrested in November 2023 outside of the Main Street-Science World SkyTrain Station.

Metro Vancouver Transit Police say they caught both men in “hand-to-hand drug transactions.”

After the two men were arrested, Transit Police say they confiscated multiple grams of fentanyl, hydromorphone, psilocybin, and hashish. They also found approximately 6 kilograms of marijuana and various marijuana products.

Those products were packaged to resemble popular candy brands, such as “Oreo” and “Sour Patch Kids”

“The unregulated cannabis that mimics candy is particularly dangerous and can cause serious harm to an unknowing consumer,” said Sgt. Dustin Szakacs in a statement.

One man, 44-year-old Stephen McLellan of Maple Ridge, pleaded guilty to Possession to sell Cannabis under the Cannabis Act. 34-year-old Jayson Hoang of Abbotsford was found guilty of the same offense.
