Metro Vancouver temperatures on the rise toward weekend

Lower Mainlanders can expect a hot and dry weekend, but heat warnings or advisories are unlikely.
1130 NewsRadio Meteorologist Michael Kuss says temperatures could reach the high 20s or low 30-degree range, and no rain is expected, but the changing daylight hours will provide relief.

With record-breaking rainfall last week, he says it may have seemed like a particularly wet August, but only five of the first 20 days of the month saw precipitation.
The weather station at Vancouver International Airport (YVR) saw 43.2 millimetres of rainfall on Aug. 15, which is more than 60 per cent higher than the previous daily record — set in 1912 — of 26.9 millimetres.
“We’ve had 110 millimetres of precipitation from June 1 to Aug. 20 at YVR. Normal for June through August is 121 millimetres,” Kuss explained.
Kuss says Metro Vancouver and the Fraser Valley may not see another drop for the rest of the month.
He expects a run of seven consecutive hot days, starting Friday.
