Kits Pool to stay open five more days

The Vancouver Board of Parks and Recreation has good news for keen swimmers and outdoor pool lovers.

Due to the continued warm, summery weather, the park board extends the season at Kitsilano Pool by an extra week.

The original closing day on Tuesday, Sept. 2, has now been pushed to Sunday, Sept. 7.

The board says it made “necessary operational and staffing adjustments,” which include slightly different opening hours.

Over the extended five days, the pool will be open from 7 a.m. to 10:30 a.m. and then again from 11 a.m. to 2:30 p.m. The last opening slot will be from 3 p.m. to 7 p.m.

Unfortunately, the extention does not apply to the city’s other outdoor pools: Second Beach, New Brighton, and Maple Grove are still scheduled to close as planned on Tuesday.

The park board says that September and October are important months to conduct “necessary maintenance” before the wet and colder months.
