2 people charged after bear-spray robbery in East Vancouver

Two men have been charged with one count of assault with a weapon and one count of theft under $5000 after an alleged robbery in Vancouver on Monday.

The city’s police department says that the incident occurred shortly before 8:40 a.m. at a retail store near Glen Drive and Terminal Avenue.

The two suspects fled the scene after allegedly first stealing items in the store and then assaulting a security agent with bear spray.

Police used a drone and a canine unit to search for the suspects. Later, police located and arrested the two men in the Strathcona neighbourhood near Maclean Park.

According to police, both accused remain in custody.
