Canada Post warns of service disruptions during 2026 FIFA World Cup in Vancouver

Canada Post says some minor service interruptions may be possible in Vancouver while the FIFA World Cup 2026 is in town.

Between June 11 and July 19, several street letter mailboxes near the PNE Grounds and BC Place will be cleared and sealed, it says.

The following mailboxes will be affected:

  • Cooperage Way and Smithe Street;
  • Near the intersection of East Pender Street and Main Street;
  • 118 Robson Street;
  • 840 Cambie Street;
  • 555 Abbott Street; and
  • Relocated: The street letter mailbox located at 1105 Granville Street will be moved to the southwest corner of Helmcken Street.

The interruptions would coincide with days when matches are held in the city. The game dates are:

  • Saturday, June 13, starting at 9 p.m.: Australia vs. Türkiye. (There is no mail delivery on Saturday);
  • Thursday, June 18, 3 p.m.: Canada vs. Qatar;
  • Sunday, June 21, 6 p.m.: New Zealand vs. Egypt. (There is no mail delivery on Sundays);
  • Wednesday, June 24, 12 p.m.: Canada vs. Switzerland;
  • Friday, June 26, 8 p.m.: New Zealand vs. Belgium;
  • Thursday, July 2, 8 p.m.: (Round of 32); and
  • Tuesday, July 7, 1 p.m.: (Round of 16).

Post offices near the event zones will not be affected.
