VANCOUVER (NEWS1130) – We already have Google Chrome, the browser, and now we’re looking at the fall release of Google Chrome, the operating system.
It was announced nearly a year ago but now the lightweight, open source operating system is close to a reality. Initially designed for netbooks, Chrome should provide startup and web access times a fraction of what Windows users endure. It has a cloud-based design which should mean quick access to Google’s online applications as well.
The market for this OS is likely bargain hunters seeking an alternative to windows, and will suit smaller computing systems like netbooks and laptops.
Google has not set an exact launch date, saying just that it will be released this fall.
