At least one family displaced by fire in Richmond

RICHMOND (NEWS 1130) – The fire’s out now, but at least one family has been displaced after flames erupted in an apartment complex in Richmond Friday afternoon.

Fire crews were called out to the area of Ackroyd and Arcadia Roads around 2:00 p.m.

The RCMP says officers witnessed flames coming from an apartment, and were able to assist with evacuations of a building.

Images from the scene showed smoke rising from the complex.

“Major black smoke, and it’s really stinky,” described one caller.

The blaze forced some road closures in the area for a few hours as firefighters fought the fire.

No injuries have been reported.
