RICHMOND (NEWS 1130) — A COVID-19 outbreak has been declared after “staff” tested positive in the Acute Care for the Elderly unit at Richmond Hospital.
Vancouver Coastal Health confirmed the outbreak Thursday, but did not say how many workers have been infected with the coronavirus. IN a healthcare setting, a single case can constitute an outbreak.
The health authority says the outbreak has not spread to any other units in the hospital.
“The unit will remain closed to new admissions and transfers at this time. All visitation has been suspended until the outbreak measures have been lifted; the exception being for compassionate visits at the end of life,” the statement reads.
