A crash in Vancouver’s Kerrisdale neighbourhood Monday morning has left one person dead.
It happened at around 6 a.m. on Granville Street at W. 46 Ave., where investigators believe the driver of a Toyota Corolla was speeding.
“For some unknown reason, it crossed over the centre line,” explained Vancouver police Sgt. Steve Addison.
“It sideswiped a taxi that had some passengers on board. After it sideswiped the taxi, it went head-on into a Porsche, injuring quite seriously the driver of the Porsche before going airborne. Once it was in the air, it went over a truck. Fortunately, it did not cause any damage or injuries to the truck [or its driver] but then it landed on … a Hyundai Elantra that had a woman inside it.”
The driver of the Corolla was trapped inside the vehicle and died at the scene.
“The driver of the Porsche was taken to hospital… a man in his 20s, who had some leg injuries. And the driver of the Elantra was also taken to hospital. My understanding is she’s since been released,” Addison said.
Nobody in the taxi was hurt.
