Trains heading south of the border are chugging along again, as Amtrak’s Cascades resume service along the West Coast Monday.
Suspended since 2020 because of the COVID-19 pandemic, the Cascades train will leave Vancouver’s Pacific Central Station at 5:45 p.m. and arrive in Seattle, Wash., just after 10 p.m.
A daily round trip is scheduled for the moment, with Amtrak saying in an announcement last month that it will add services to the corridor as “staffing and equipment allow.”

“In addition to resuming service to Canada, the route also offers three daily round trips between Portland and Seattle, two daily round trips between Eugene and Portland, two daily buses between Seattle and Bellingham, and four daily buses between Seattle and Vancouver, B.C.,” the transport company said in a statement.
The resumption of service to Vancouver is the second of three services in Canada, with the Toronto route resuming in June.
