Weekend fire in Abbotsford considered suspicious: police

Police in Abbotsford say a fire that started early Saturday morning may have been a case of arson.

Officers were called to the area of Trethewey Street south of Maclure Road around 1 a.m.

An evacuation was carried out, though it’s unclear how many people were displaced.

The circumstances around what exactly happened aren’t clear at this time. However, after a preliminary investigation, police say “the fire is being treated as suspicious.”

It’s believed this was a targeted incident. No one was physically hurt, police say.

Police are looking to speak with anyone who may have information about what happened or anyone who may have seen anything suspicious in the area.
