Body found on side of Nanaimo road, person possibly hit by car: RCMP

Mounties in Nanaimo closed a road on the outskirts of the city for a time Friday morning after a body was discovered.
The Nanaimo RCMP says it’s believed the person may have been hit by a vehicle
According to Mounties, someone on an early morning walk came across the body around 7 a.m. on Harewood Mines Road, just south of the Highway 19 overpass.
After it was reported to police, officers and members of the BC Coroners Service went to the scene.
Investigators closed off the area for a few hours while the body was examined by “several specialized units” of the RCMP.
Mounties are asking anyone who was in the area before 7 a.m. Friday and saw someone walking, to call the Nanaimo RCMP at 250-754-2345 and quote file number 2023-3059.
