Man dead after Surrey single-car crash

A man in his 50s has died after a single-vehicle crash in Surrey Monday night.

Surrey RCMP confirmed the death after the driver left King George Boulevard north of Highway 10 just after 8 p.m.

Mounties say the vehicle ended up on its roof in the backyard of a nearby home.

“The subsequent collision resulted in the vehicle sustaining extensive damage,” Snr. Sgt. Brad Essex said.

Police believe speed was a factor in the crash.

That stretch of northbound lanes on King George Boulevard was closed for several hours overnight, with the lanes reopening about 5 a.m. Tuesday.

Police are urging anyone will more information or dash-cam footage of King George and Highway 10 to contact the Surrey RCMP at 604-599-0502 and quote file# 2023-51232.
